how many pieces are there to the side windows?
how many pieces are there to the side windows?
someone attempted to break into my car last night. (see pic) and they broke the window in the process. however when the window broke, the alarm scared them off. and because of the window tinting, the window didn't shatter. which was good cause the cops were able to get prints.
but now to my question. the guy came out today to install a new window. and said that i am missing a piece that goes on the side of the window (front of the window towards the front of the car) that rivets to the window (like the lower pieces) and helps guide the window up a side rail or something.. i know there are two peices that are on the bottom of the window. but is there one on the front side of the window? the window does have quite a bit of movement but i also don't have the black rubber piece that guides the window up at the front of the door. should i continue searching the the bag of broken glass for this peice or should i just tell him tomorrow that it doesn't exsist?

I think you're right. Maybe he's getting confused because you don't have the guide/groove on the front of the door, so he thinks something else should be there?
It's been about 1 1/2 yrs since I replaced my window motor, but IIRC, there's only the track on the bottom of the glass. I don't remember anything else actually being attached to the glass itself. All the other stuff was attached to the door.
As I said, it's been a while since I've had my door panel off, so my memory is fuzzy (i.e. don't hold me to it).
Maybe you can pull the other door panel off and look at that window?

No such animal.
The only connections to the glass are on the bottom. Everything else connects to the door frame.

The only thing i know that is on the window is the the little sail thing on the front. that is all that goes on the windown and i guess that guides it up.
Breathe,
Your window looks like a Milky Way screen saver. If you move it up and down constantly, it would be a cool effect. All the ricers will have them in a month or two.... I can even help "convert" some of them...
Actually, you were lucky the tint film held it all topgether. Cleaning up glass pieces can be a months-long chore, since you can always find more later. Just make sure the bottom of the door gets cleaned out thoroughly, or the glass will start to grind a rust spot for you.
Check the body manual at your local dealer. They'll probably make a copy of the page for you so that the guy in the little red truck isn't so confused.

hahaha vader you are a crack up:sillylol: i do need to get that CD though..
well an update on the window and the police. we called today and they said it will take a few more days to run the prints they got. but the good news is that an investigator (sp?) is gonna get a hold of us.. and a friend in my car club said he might know who did it, some people that live near him and me that do alot of this kinda stuff. and just a few other things. so hopefuly they will catch these guys...
but the window guy came yesturday to replace the window. took him like 3 hours and he barley just got the window in, and i had pulled the door panel for him already!! and he still didn't get it installed correctly.. only one of the mounts on the bottom is actualy attached to the window!!! no wonder why there was alot of slop in the window. but i guess i cant' blame him cause it was dark last night. but if he doesn't hurry and get here today then its gonna be dark again!!!!
ill have to set up the 500watt flood lights for him..!
