How To Remove The Timming Gear Cover?
I have been at my wits end with my car! Last year, replcaed the engine. AFR heads the whole gammit! The car does not seem any faster??? 3 weeks after the engine was runnnig, it opend up like as if a ground touched or a cork was taken out of the exhaust??? I had no idea what happened? But it was running really strong! 3 months later, i put the supercharger back on, I blow a head gasket and a fuel psi regulator. After the tear down, it's running like it was for the first 3 weeks after the install? I'm thinking maybe the timming chain skipped a tooth or something.
What is involved in taking the cover off? I remember on my corvette, 87 l98 engine, I had to drop my oil pan. I really donot want to do that!!!! The Chiltons book says nothing about droping the oil pan....it only talks about an OIL SEAL?
any help would be greatly appricated!

When I changed my cam over the summer, I just loosened the front couple of bolts on the oil pan. If you do this, it will have just enough slack in it that you can yank out the timing cover. When you go to put the timing cover back in, my Felpro kit came with a rubber seal for the bottom of the timing cover. Put this on the timing cover and set the cover with seal into the groove where it goes into the oil pan and gently hit the timing cover with a rubber mallet. While tapping it in, use your other hand to make sure the rubber seal stays in the groove. Mine went in very easily and hasn't leaked yet (knock on wood).
Now I'm not saying whether or not the timing chain is your problem, but this is how I'd go about taking the timing cover off.
