Starter keeps blowing

I have a 350 in my camaro and I keep on blowing starters about 3 in a year. I was wondering what could be causing this, I have shorty headers I was wondering if the heat from my headers could be making it heat up and burnout, basically what are the possablitys causing this, thanks for the help in advance.

it could very likely be. try putting a heat shield on your starter, you can get the "sleeve" type just about anywhere

Also, make sure of the engagement of the starter with the flexplate/flywheel.

If the heat shield doesn't work, see the tech articles for mounting a remote starter selenoid.
