UH OH...inch of water in oil pan!!!!!!
UH OH...inch of water in oil pan!!!!!!
Ok guys, here it is. It does not even have 500 miles on it after the race re-build. p.s. it is a (not so) LO3. The oil pan is full of antifreeze and I am not sure wrether it is the block cracked or possibly the heads (of course they were extensively ported also). Is there ANY way to tell with out doing a post-mortem? I have no garage now to tear it apart in and not sure where to start looking for the problem. The radiator and block have since been drained of water and so was the oil pan. I put 5 qts of oil in to ensure that the crank does not rust...ouch!! Any advice out there? Other than junk it (tee hee hee...not an option) Thanks
Eric

check the intake first off. Make sure its not leaking coolant. Alot of people have had that problem after reinstalling it.

Is your car blowing a lot of smoke? If so then it may be the head gasket. I had this happen to my new GM crate engine. It ran for 20 minutes and then shut off at idle due to no oil pressure. I drained the oil and it was loaded with gold shavings and antifreeze. I have no idea what happened to it, I just took it back out
and sent it back.
Pull the intake and see if you can find any source of coolant leaking into the intake holes. Also, you say the heads have been extensivly ported. Could it be that the person who did it broke through to a water jacket? Your gonna end up tearing the top end off to find your problem there is no way aound it. good luck and let me know what you find.and when you put it back together,,MAKE SURE YOU TORQUE THE BOLTS DOWN RIGHT

It is hard because it is just sooooo many things that it can be. Kinda puts a lump in your throat. Put about 5 grand into this motor and put less than 500 miles on it. Just waiting on a place to do it now I guess. Then we'll see.

I know the feeling. I swapped all my stuff from my 305 to the new 350 and then installed it and then had to remvoe it and take it all back off again and ship it back. then had to put al the stuff back on the newer motor and put that one back in. Can you say once pissed off person.
