uh oh -i see smoke

i was driving home from school 2 nights ago and saw that oil pressure was a little low.
when i got home i let it run for a couple seconds and heard a niose like the vavles were knockin.i turned her off and went insidecauze it was 3:30 in the morning.
that next day i went to school completely forgetting to check my oil. when i got to school i parked her and i got out and then i saw white smoke coming from the passanger's side of the hood.
i poped the hood and pulled out the dipstick IT WAS DRY
so i put in 3 quarts after class. and drove her home, seeing a little bit of white smoke, at every stop light

i think it is my vavle cover gasket. has theis ever happene to anybody else

Probably not a valve cover gasket, but more likely a head gasket. Engines don't like to run long without lubrication, and tend to get pretty hot in the process, regardless of outside air temperature.

i would guess a head gasket also. white smoke is coolant and not oil. oil smoke would be blue-ish black....

no this is oil, it looks like and smells like when u fill the car with oil and spill a little on the exhaust manifold.

i've had this happen once before and i check the vavl covers and i tightened them, and it went away . that was about 6k miles ago

i put the 3quarts in her and shes running just fin but still leakin, so thats what making me think it was my vavle cover., and when i put them in oil pressure came right back to were its allways and stayed like that threw all the rpm range.

O.K. So it's oil smoke. As long as the cooling system holds pressure, you might be lucky on that one. Now you need to find whether the engine is leakin and/or burning oil. There is a chance that you did some ring damage due to lack of splash lubrication from the rod ends,or possibly cooked the valve stem seals and guides themselves. Clean the engine then watch for leaks. Repair all that you can. You can also try to determine if the smoke is worst on startup, acceleration, or deceleration. That will be a hint about the source of the burning. Another possibility is that you warped some parts and have a gasket leak at the underside of the intake, causing oil burning under all conditions.

Whatever you do, maintain your oil level religiously.

the car smokin after she is turned off.

the smoke is coming from the passanger's side, at the end of the vavle cover, closest to the firewall.

it is coming out in between the vavle cover and that black thing (that plastic housing that the a/c and heat is hooked into)

but i can't get a very good look due to the fact of two many things in the way
i'll bring my camera with me today andtake pics of it when it happens, so u can see.
