is there any difference between the 2 heads? i think i swapped mine around when i put them on. everything lines up and bolts up just fine though. is this a problem? also i noticed that the little brass ****/bolt/sensor/whatever that should be right between the spark plugs for #1 and #3 is now back by #6 and #8. what is that thing anyway? will this be a problem?

heads are interchangable from side to side. the little brass thingy is a temp sensor. you can leave it there and run the wire to it. or switch it to the other head.

The only difference is the accessory holes. If you put them on the opposite, you wont be able to mount your accessories.

Depending on what your running, the cooling fan sensor runs out of the coolant hole between 6 and 8 and the temp sensor for the gauge between 1 and 3. Sounds like you have a belt driven fan. There should be a pipe plug in the hole between 1 and 3 remove it and remove the brass sensor and swap them. everything else should be ok.
