Help with heads
Okay,
just picked upo a '94 350 from a blazer. The heads a re 1.94" and the valves are 1.50. What do I need to do to maximize the heads. It will be going in a 91 rs that currently has a rather well used 305. I will probably stay with the tbi for now and the 700r4. I will be going wiht headers and a new exhaust. I currently have the 2:42 but can pick up a set of 3:42, will they fit in my 10 bolt carrier.
I'm mechanically inclined, just have never rebuilt a motor before.

The best thing you can do to improve those heads is to throw them in the garbage and get something else. They are of the TBI "swirl-port" design, just like your 305 heads.
Look for a set of L98 heads, the ones from a 350 TPI. They appear in the classifieds on this site all the time. DO NOT buy a bunch of worked-over 70s smog excrement such as 882s, no matter what valves they've had stuck in them, how much money they have put in them, etc.
Heads are the key to making a motor run its best. You have to start with decent raw material. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken s*** no matter how much money you spend on it.

If you are not afraid to get your hands dirty, then do up a set of 305 heads. Follow the link at the end of my sig.
