a/c question regaurding service
hey people
i have a question reguarding a/c service. Before you refill the system you use a vacum pump to pull all moisture and check for leaks, but how do you refill the system without using the pressurized cans or a $5000 machine. Also is it possible to empty the a/c system without that same expensive machine.

If you read somewhere that it was possible to discharge your A/C with a screwdriver or something placed in the fitting on the accumulator, I would agree that it was possible but tell you that it's illegal. This won't get rid of the old oil, though.
Some places may empty it for free since freon is valuable, but they would likely charge you a good amount to fill it.
