combustion chambers??

i was wondering why people would get a high cc combustion chamber over a lower one, is the only benefit of having a bigger cc head to lower the compression ratio to accomodate a blower/turbo?

so there's no actual performance gains by running a higher cc head other than ability to use blower/turbo?
