When i go to turn on the turn signal during the day, it works fine, good pace, not slow, not fast. At night when the lights are on...its a different story...the turn signal is extremely slow. Also, when i am sitting there in park or drive...not moving...ideling at like 750...the interior lights are some what dim, then if i rev it up..the interior lights brighten and so do the headlights. Is my alternator going bad, or is there another cause of this problem?

 

check the water level in your battery. Believe it or not that can affect it... I had the same problem in my car, and the battery water level was low.... I filled it up, and no problems since.

 

This may be the problem, but most batteries nowadays are sealed. It might be hard to open one without damaging it.

I would suspect the alternator. Does your car have a voltmeter? What is it doing when the lights dim?

My car did something similar once, and about a week later the alternator calved on me.

 

Sounds like it could be the alternator. This happened to me, and the voltage dropped. I charged the battery, worked okay for a little, then dropped again. Took it to school and tested the alternator, which turned out to be bad.

 

i will check the volts nextime the lights dim, but i dont remember the volts moving at all when it does it.

 

could be your flashers!! They are dirt cheap to replace.

 

Here's an obvious question that I'm surprised no one asked:

Do you have underdrive pulleys?

 

nope...but would that casue a problem?

 

same problem...changed alternator...problem went away

alternators a quick easy fix...hardly even get your hands dirty..

 

How about instead of just swapping parts that might be bad you get a voltmeter and see what the alternator is pumping out. Could be that it is charging the electrical system perfectly but you have a battery that won't charge up!

 

You could just ****** the alternator off and take it to Auto Zone, Advance, etc. They'll check it for free. Then you'd know. As was mentioned, its a rather easy thing to pull and replace.

Well, I believe that if your alternator is being underdriven, because it's turning slower, some people run into problems such as this.
