Cam/Head help....

I am going to be building a new engine pretty soon and was looking to get some opinions on my cam/head choice.

I am going with a ZZ4 short block, with the Holley stealth ram intake, Pro Action Lightning heads (180cc or 200cc), ~9.5:1 compression, and for the cam I was thinking a comp cam specs: 224/230 .503/.510 112. Maybe with some 1.6rr for a little more lift.

The car will be running a T56 Trans with 4.10 gears. Mainly a street car with the occasional trip to the track. Just wondering if I should go with a bigger/smaller cam and which head cc.

That cam would be a reasonable match for the heads and the RPM range of the Stealth Ram. Much more than that and you'll have alot more trouble doing your chip tuning to match it. You'll probably need to do your own PROM burning anyway, if you're running a stock ECM.

Definitely run the 1.6s. Run at least 1.45" valve springs, 1.55" if they will cut the heads for them.

I'd recommend the 200cc heads. But make sure the intake ports will fit under the Stealth Ram, one of its limits is the height of the ports, they are too short for some large intake ports. IIRC the biggest intake gasket it will match to is a 1205; choose heads that will also match to that one.

Thanks for the reply.

I am pretty sure the 200cc heads will fit, someone on here is running 220cc heads with the stealth ram intake. Using desktop dyno this cam seems to peak around 5700 rpm. Does that seem accurate? I don't want to spin the engine too much past 6000 rpm. How do you guys think this cam will act on the street?

5700 for peak HP sounds about right.

It will be plenty tolerable on the street; you should have enough vacuum for power brakes etc.; it will idle a little bit lumpy, but not too extreme.
