Timing and idle issues

Well since I had all day today to play with my car I decided to check on some stuff. First the IAC. I took it off, cleaned it real well (it has a lot of carbon buildup around the circular part and the pintle) and put it back in. Also cleaned the TB. However I don't think it did much cuz my car still feels like it wants to stall sometimes (RPMs drop, then go back up) when I shift into reverse or drive. I've set the minimum idle and have checked for vacuum leaks, checked the EGR valve while the plenum was out, don't see anything wrong. Should I get a new IAC?

Now the timing. I advanced it to 8* to see if I would feel a difference. It did feel like it pulled harder. However the idle decreased slightly and the engine seems to shake a lil more. But what I wanna know is, would advancing it 2* increase the chances of knock by a lot? And are there any other side effects of advanced timing on stock motor? I run at least 91 octane.

thanks.

By the way I also checked the resistance of each injector and I got about 20.3 with all of them. I read in another post the normal is about 16. Are mine still within spec or is that something that would cause driveability problems??

Advancing the timming to a certain point increases the idle only around 14*+ does the idle start to surge. I dident read the sig to see what car you have but did you check the TPS?

when you change the idle screw setting you have to readjust the TPS.

I checked the TPS. The voltage is around .64 with the throttle closed. I can't adjust it lower than that but I think that's still within spec. Prefered voltage is around .57 if I'm not mistaken.
