Bypassed Nuetral Safety Switch

Ok my Nuetral Safety Switch went out and caused me 6 months of hell and a lot of money before it was finally figured out that was the reason my car wouldnt start at times.

Now their is a little black box (hanging down from the dash above the clutch) with 2 wires going into into that the mechanic stuck a wire with 2 clips in and bypassed my clutch.

So my question is: Is that a Separate Nuetral Safety Switch or something else. The guy at Napa said that some cars had 2 but they only carried the one for my car. I think he didnt know what he was talking about. I know the (NSS) is the Umbrella thing that the clutch physically engages. So is that box good or bad? Do i just need to replace the (NSS)? Sorry for rambling. :lala:

Judging by your username, I assume that you race some. NSS was one of the first things they checked under track's tech inspection. Sorry I didnt answer your question, but I thought you might want to just replace the problematic switch instead of bypass it. Good luck either way!

Not to bring on a debate but we have a track just 2 miles here from base and Ive never had my NSS inspected. Ive gone 6 or so times.

Ya, every tech has his own personality...seems like they gripe at different things every time. Thanks!
