somethings not right

I have an automatic lg4, and lately when i floor from a rolling start, say 20, just when its about to shift, the engine sounds like it stalled and the car decelerate while rolling, and then [sometimes as long as 4 seconds later] the engine kicks back in and the wheels spin and i take off again. Theres also a delay between the time i press the pedal to when the car starts accelerating. Its not as dramatic but maybe a 1/4 second pause, i dont know if thats normal.

Could be many things, but this sounds too much like vapor lock to me. It could also be that you need to change the fuel filter (in front body of carb) or the pickup in the gas tank is clogged. You might just need a good thorough tune up. What are the specs on the car. Headers or aftermarket exhaust?? etc.

the car is a completely stock 87 camaro lt coupe. I've also noticed that i have been gettin terrible gas mileage. I went through a full tank in 4 days with casual driving.

First do a tune up (plugs, wires, cap and rotor, airfilter, fuel filter, etc.) Try and isolate vacuum leaks that you can if any. This will eliminate some possibilities. Make sure your air and egr are functioning fine and the egr diaphram moves freely. Make sure the carb is tuned and cleaned as much as possible (make sure no debris between jets and wells).

Then go from there.....
