Vader, Opinion?

I'm planning a cam swap for my LO3. As you can see from my sig. It is now carbed for high flow and tune ablility and the rear gears are 3.73s for improved low end.

I want to maximize mid range torque between 1500 and 5000 RPM.

What do you think about these cams for my set up?

Lift figures are all based on 1.5 to 1 rocker arm ratio not 1.6 to 1 as is sometimes the case with the LT4 cam.

LT1 Production Cam 95-97
201 / 208 .447" / .459"

LT 4 Production Cam
203 / 210 .446" / .450"

Crane Powermax Cam 2031
208 / 214 .438" / .452"

Crane Powermax PN 109821
214 / 222 .488" / .509"

If I am going to go through all the work involved in a cam swap I want to be sure I will be optimizing my combination.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm not Vader... Nor are RB, ede, Five7, probably all of which could answer this question nicely. I'll pass as well, and I'm sure Vader will contact you some way in order to answer you, however, knowing this board, you may want to use the search function, in particular to questions regarding a most popular cam selection.

WHOOPS!!!

I can tell you from experience that Vader is not going to respond. He doesn't like it when you single out any members for their opinion on the message boards. If you prefer, PM him.

I do have to say though, a few other members would actually have more experience with what cam to pick. Not that you should post to them either, but a few are ede, RB83L69, Ed Maher (spelling) Steve89GTA, F-BIRD88, madmax and many others.

I can also tell you that none of those guys/gals (don't want to sexually discriminate ) will respond to this thread either.

I am sure he would appreciate help from anyone who knows, but he likes Vader because he's a loyal Star Wars guy, that pitches a tent at theatres prior to the phantom menace. :sillylol:

I'm sure he'd tell you to get a really lumpy one.

I'm agree with AL92RS, who mentioned that there are a lot of other members who probably could suggest a cam specification based on a little more building experience. Nothing against Vader, but there are others who build more engines more frequently, and in more combinations, who could probably lend some good advice, too.

I've seen it mentioned before that posting a thread for a specific person would prevent you from getting responses from others who might be able to help. That kind of thing should be done with email or the PM system. This is a public forum, after all.

But that's just my opinion.
