92 RS putting out smoke w/ odor, not oil

hey, for the past couple days my 92 RS seems to be putting out more exhaust than usual. at first i took it for the heat coming out into the cold air, but it has strange smell to it. i didn't check it out until tonight, and i couldn't tell the color of the smoke because it was dark. i couldn't tell if it was actually white/blue smoke from oil (which it didn't smell like), or something else. i'm gonna check my fluids tommorow just to be sure that nothing's looking bad. but if anybody can help me out it'd be appreciated. also, i bent down near the rear and there was slight whine/whistling noise which coulda just been 11 yr. old parts squeaking a little, or it might have something to do w/ what's messing up. but again, any help would be appreciated, thanks yall.

Is the odor almost a sweet type smell? If it is, you have probably blown a head gasket.
Check you oil to see if it looks like a milk shake. If it has a milky white color to it, thats almost positively a head gaskett.

right after "racerx004" told me that, i went straight out and checked my oil, fearin for the worst. the oil was nice, dark, and thick and was still exactly at the 'full' line. oh well, i haven't noticed any difference in the sound of the engine, or driving performance, so maybe it's all in my head i thought that it looked like more exhaust smoke than normal, but maybe i just hadn't taken notice of it before.....well thanks alot for you guys help, thankfully it wasn't the gasket
