MSD 6A Ignition
Couple things. I am looking to put an MSD 6A ignition box and MSD coil on my 91 GTA and was looking for a few opinions. I believe their may have at one time been a MSD on the car because it has an adaptor coming off the coil connectors splicing into the coil (which is mounted over on the drivers side fenderwell??). The adaptor is the same colors as an MSD adaptor would be. (black and red) Also the car just seems to be kind of sluggish almost like it is getting to much fuel or not enough spark. If I were to put a MSD on the car what would all be involved with this process and do you guys recommend it? Thanks a lot! Drive on...........

I have the MSD set up and it works great. For a few years I had just the box. Three years ago I put the coil in as well. Then things got interesting. I burnt up a new set of MSD wires in about 2 months. Checking with MSD support, they told me to use lots of dielectric grease, make sure there are plenty of grounds coming of the engine to the battery and not to use anything but standard plugs. I was running the Rapidfires as you are. I was told that they cause too much resistance and make things burn up. So I put new wires, grease and by mistake put in the AS Delco aluminum head plugs into my iron heads. WOW incredible power and performance. Gas mileage when way up to. I checked and put in the iron head plugs in just to make sure and there was a big difference. So I switched back. Call MSD and talk to them about the Rapidfire plugs. I still use the Rapidfires in the family van.

I have an MSD on my 86 T/A which was converted to a 91 TPI setup. I used the Blaster 3 Coil as well. I ran regualr AC Delco plugs and regular 8mm wires. Ran great, even though my chip was bad.
