'87 engine?
'87 engine?
Hey everyone....I realized today that I have an odd setup on my hands. My T/A is an '87 (by VIN and title), and is a 305 TPI engine by VIN. The odd part is the valve covers are the older, perimeter bolt design. I thought '87 was the first year for center bolts. What do ya think? Early year production? Not likely a roller engine I'm guessing. The car has been painted, so the tag in the door is missing, so I have no idea what the actual production date is. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Darrell
Thanks,
Darrell
I forgot to mention...the car has 78K miles on it, so I would think the engine is original, or an owner before me blew the engine...any block numbers that can be seen easily that would reveal the year of engine?

Also depends on when the car was made. If it was early 1987 then it could have perimeter bolt heads because they were left over in the factory.
