s/r torquer and cam

s/r torquer and cam

will the springs on the s/r torquers handle a comp cam extreme energy 268 with 1.6 rockers. or do i need new valve springs. i will also the next cam up which would be the 274 with 1.6 rockers. also would 1.254 valve springs fit these heads. the valve springs on them now are 1.250.

Remove one spring. measure the installed height.
Take the spring and a retainer to a automotive machine shop and get them to measure the pressure @ the installed height
and the open pressure @ full lift. Then the coil bid height.

Phone or email comp cams and tell them what you have. They will advise you.. its free too.

I would advise upgrading the spring, After having the second "as supplied" S/R torquer spring break, I installed a set of comp 981's and no more problems. This was on a XE268H cammed 350 with 1.5 rockers. As F-BIRD'88 mentioned..you need to check for any binding issues, especially with the 1.6 ratio.
