Theres the ZZ430, but what if???
Concidering that GM can make 430HP crate engine, what if instead of using the Fastburn heads one used AFR heads, and instead of using the 'HOT' cam one used a more aggresive cam and instead of a GM intake you used a weiand or AFR intake?
Could 500 HP be fairly easily obtainable? and for nearly the same price.
Just been thinking about this is all and thought I'd run it across everyone.

I wouldnt think it would be too much more.
AFR 195's are 1250, not much more than the fastburns, cam would be a bit more, than the intake maybe $100 more.
Unless I am missing something. which is very possible.

Price it and see. Be honest about what it will cost to machine and build a block, or what it would take to buy a short block of equal quality and durability parts as a ZZ4 (no Auto Zone rebuilt 350 short blocks). Let us know what you come up with.

CNC machined AFRs will run you close to $2k by the time you get good valve springs and 7/16" studs.

A fastburn 385 is $4025
1.6 self aligning rockers $200
HOT cam + $170
_____
$4,395
ZZ4 shortblock $1886
AFR 195cc 195cc Street Heads, Angle Plug, 68cc 1025 CNC street ported heads From airflowresearch.com $1250
Aggressive cam, just estimate $200
pushrods, lifters, distributor, coil, waterpump, timingset
estimate $500
Flexplate $200
Polished AFR dual plane intake manifold part number 5029
+$169
_______
$4205
There may be a couple things I have forgot and of course the second set does not include any assembly labor cost. But it seems like the costs are equal, if there are any errors in my pricing because some parts were estimated as noted, but the rest of the prices were obtaines fro gmpartsdirect.com as well as airflowresearch.com
If I did make a mistake I will be the first o admit it just point it out to me.
