quick ratio steering in 87 iroc?
was a quick ratio box an available option for an 87 iroc? what would the rpo for this be?
You probably won't find it on your RPO label, since it was part of the WS6 package. If you have a copy of the build sheet in your vehicle, you might find the alpha code for the steering box under N41 or NV7. If your car is clean, you should find the letters "HX" inked on the aluminum top cover of the steering box, indicating the high-effort steering ratio.
Funny just checked all my RPO codes on my 87 IROC (original owner) and can not find a WS6 RPO ( Firebird Code ??). Everything for springs, sway bars and all other IROC performance
equipment RPO's but again no WS6???

damn.. what did my 89 v6 rs body come with? im using most of the parts from the rs to put the iroc back togather.. misc interior parts bolts, engine etc.. the linkage above the steering box on the iroc is pretty mangled.. he broke the steering column and had been steering it with a pry bar when he would push it around his garage... will probably have to swap in my steering box from my rs.. he also took everything apart in an apparent attempt to part it out.. but he forgot to try to sell the parts after he took it apart.. they are all inside the car now.. nothing is hooked up.. the brake booster, master cylinder and proportioning valve are on the pass side floor, all the seats are out, dash, headliner, every interior panel the hatch motor.. the list goes on... its all there but all thrown inside of the car... he even did me the favor of removing the tailights by cutting all the wires to em in half so i get to do some splicing and shrink wrapping...

The 87 L98 IROC has a quick ratio steering box. I don't know about the 305 IROC.
The RPO could be B2L, B4Z, Z28 or 1HV. All these RPO's deal with a performance package in one way or another. The quick ratio box could be included in any of these 4.

Check the casting number on the steering box, too. One of the quick ratio numbers is "26000525" with a "Z" somewhere on the box. There's another number, too, for (I think) a 15" quick ratio box.... i think the number starts with a 7. Can't find the file where I saved it...

And a 87 305 IROC will have a fast ratio box also.
