head casting #

Does anyone know anything about SBC Head casting number 471513?

Apparently this is a '79 350 head.

Is this a good casting? Anyone know what size valves / combustion chamber?

Thanks,
George

Axle/Gears: good guess
I dont think that would be a very good high performance head bcuz the list shows they also came on 267's, and that engine really sucked.

By the way, Could someone tell me what makes a casting "good" or "bad".

I mean why is it worth it to port and polish and rebuild 416 heads but not some others. Wouldn't this rebuilding process make other heads good?

Is it that some heads require more work than others or that the other heads can't be made as good no matter how much work you do?

416 heads are great material to work with! So are 081s, and to a lesser extent 601s. They practically give them away at the junk yards and they can be made to flow BETTER than Vortecs--for less then $400!
