replacing rear main seal
replacing rear main seal
Can anyone give me some tips on replacing the rear main seal on an L98 (one piece)? I haven't checked my service manual yet, but the manual isn't exactly the best in terms of tips. How do you pull out the seal? Is there any sealer that needs to be added after the new seal is installed?
I'm putting in a new tranny, so I figured I'd might as well replace the seal once it's down.
Thanks!

pretty easy, unbolt the little houseing drive out the old seal drive in the new. i use sealer on the OD of the seal and assembly lube on the ID. then bolt the seal houseing back to the block.

So on the L-98s do you have bolts that go thru the pan and into the seal housing? Or do you have the studs in the housing that you guys are removing?
