comp xe cams
comp xe cams
anybody have the comp xe 262h or 268h? any feedback? i was thinking about using either one of those or the lt4 hotcam with hsr and tfs aluminum heads. right now i'm thinking the hotcam would be a better choice...
also, i was under the impression that the xe cams had a 112 lsa, but on comps website, i saw that it was 110... anybody know?
thanks
edit: hopefully, i'll be getting all these parts this summer, depending on the job i get. so i've got time to consider exactly what parts i want.

I have a 262 in my 305 and I'm very pleased with it.
I do believe they are 112 LSA though.
What engine are you going to throw the cam in?

There's a few different ones with different lobe separation. I have a XR264HR-12 in my 305, which is on 112° lobe sep. I had a XE274 and a XR282HR in my 400, both of which were 110°. The 262 specifically is available in 3 lobe seps IIRC: 110°, 112°, & 114° for different applications.
The LT4 HOT cam is a really weenie little thing. If you're going to all that trouble and expense, you can do alot better.
A little more info about the engine and car would be really helpful.... cubes, compression, gear, converter, what you intend to use it for, etc.

right now my car is entirely stock.
what i plan on doing is getting the engine pulled and completely checked out, bored 30 over and checked to make sure the block is ok (it's an L98 btw). then i plan on putting in the hsr, trick flow heads (not sure exactly which ones right now, most likely 64cc), obviously headers/full exhaust, don't want the compression too high, definitely want to use 93 octane. not sure about the converter right now.
what i want is for the car to look and sound stock (at least at idle). i know the hotcam is pretty weenie, but i don't want something that will make the idle sound like a metal garbage can rolling down the street. it will probably see some track use.
i just want something that will be respectively fast and can whoop some *** on the street every once in a while. by the time i get all this stuff, it will not be daily driven, and will not need to be emissions legal (hence the hsr). it's not gonna be a full out race car, just something to drive every once in a while to have a little fun in.
thanks for the replies
it's good to know you've got some choice as far as the lsa goes
