Can't Keep a Rat Out.....
Can't Keep a Rat Out.....
Hey guys, not sure if this is the right board for this topic, but a rat keeps coming in my car and eating up my hood insulation. I put in Bounty (sp?) dryer sheets and rat poison under the hood but it didn't seem to deter him. He had 1 of the numerous poison packs I put under the hood split open and all over his nest (which is in the engine bay. I'm not sure how much he ate or if he ate any at all. Anyways, I drive the car every other weekend because I am in college and I have a daily driver. It is under a carport. I would put moth ***** in the engine compartment but I'm afraid he will just move to the interior, and I don't want to put moth ***** in the interior because I don't want the car to stink. I just ordered new hood insulation and I don't want the rat to tear it up again. A cat is out of the question because it will walk on the car or tear up my car cover. Someone please tell me how to get rid of this pest.....
How would it get in the interior?
If you keep putting the same rat poison it, he won't eat it. Rats learn not to eat poison because of the way they eat.
I'd stick moth ***** on your tires so it doesn't like crawling up them. And mouse traps would be a good idea. There was a thread about this before.. it got very long, but eventually the mouse lost to a trap.

Get a few rat traps! They're like mouse traps but bigger! Put several of them around your car with something the rat likes to eat like cheese, or a piece of your hood insulation!! Cheese, bread, anything a rat likes to eat. Those rat traps will take care of your problem. I had a rat problem in a house I moved into when I lived in New Jersey. Actually, they were in my shed. I put a couple rat traps in there, and they would slice the rat in two. The rat can't climb up to chew your car when he's sliced into two pieces! Don't get one of your fingers in those things though! It would easily break fingers! Matt
