belt tensioner question

I recently got rid of my air injection pump. I then realized while I was doing it if I was smart I would get rid of the ac also. Here is my question. If I do do that how do I put tension on my belt? This would leave nothing on the front of the passenger side block. That is where the spring loaded tensioner is. Does anyone make a tensioner to fit on the drivers side? I was going to make something but there is not much room for one there. Anyone got rid of their air pump and ac and still get the belt tensioned? Any help would be great. If you made something work for yours, let me see a pic. Maybe I can make something too.

Thanks a lot

Eric

i was thinking, cant u just gut the a/c compressor so u just have a free spinning pulley and no motor? you probably wouldnt want to do it to a good compressor but maybe one that is failing, or find a bad one in a junkyard? im probably missing something as to why this wouldnt work tho..

i like the look of the pulley. and it's very lightweight. even with a gutted compressor i'm sure it'd still weigh more.

Good News!!!!!!

The crack is only in the part of the block where the water runs. None of it is getting into the oil. Compression came out great so I think that I will just weld a bead through and seal it up. Anyone have luck ever doing this?
