WEll my car has been running like real crap ever since i had my new carb put on(the one in the sig) and i was wondering if u guys could help me out. I had a buddy who works on race cars tune and put it on so i know its on right. However, he siad to buy a new air cleaner for it. So for now i been driving around with a cut air cleaner, its got a 2inch hole on the side(just so the engine wont get dirty,or as dirty with it totally off). Do u think this effects on how good it will work? I mean does the air element(open air) work like a vaccum osrta like how it sucks it in and hte hole in it messing it up? Also it has the stock 89 tbi fuel pump in the tank. Could that be a problem as well? thanks guys. Ps. got new wires and spark plugs to so that should be ok. Thanks Reply soon :hail:

 

sounds like you answered your own question, if it ran fine before you swapped carb i'd think the problem lies in the carb. try switching back to the original carb and if that fixes it you know the answer. i work on race cars and screw up so i'm not sure that's any indication of the quality of your buddy's work.

 

Well the old carb is a crappy 2 barrel and the new one is a brand new 600cfm from edlebrock? U think it could have something to do with the air filter/cleaner?

 

Not unless it is completely choking off the carb.

 

from what you said it ran fine with the crappy 2 bbl and now you have a brand new edlecrap on it and it doesn'r run. ok i'll be the first to admit NASA stamped my resume "reject" when i mailed it to them, but it sure sounds to me like your brand new edlecrap carb or the way it's adjusted is the problem.
