Vehicle will not start

OK...So I'm having some issues with my 84' bird...
Recently when it's nice out, and somewhat warm
and sunny, after I've driven the vehicle for a while,
then parked it, it will not start again...The car turns over,
and will sometimes catch, but then it dies right away...

I just had the starter replace, so I know that's not the
issue.

Normally when this happens, I just have to let it sit
for 3-4 hours, then it starts again...

Any ideas?

Injectors or ignition system getting high impedance induced from the heat.

Don't think it would be injectors...it's carb'd....
As for the ignition system, would that just have to
be replaced or is there a way to fix it?

could be the fuel soilnoid in the carb if it is the computer controlled kind. As far as the ignition, it could be any part of the system, wires, pickup coil, reluctor, primary coil, ignition module. You'd need to figure out which piece is causing the problem and change it. Unfortunately with heat induced problems it is almost impossible to bench test parts and find the problem. Start with the cheapest/easiest parts and change them 1 at a time until you have it fixed or eliminated all of the pieces.

i have a similar problem, but mine never catches. the solution? the starter is so close to the engine it gets hot & won't work properly. i believe summit racing sells an inexpensive heat shield for the starter that's supposed to fix this...

just an idea
