Oxygen Sensor Head

Can somebody tell me what condition an oxygen sensor is in if the head is all white. Recently removed mine to check and the head was all white and no longer metal looking. Is this good or bad ? If it is bad, what caused the head to get all "white"

Thanks

A white powdery or flakey look is silicon poisoning. Is the sensor response also getting slow?

I just changed it out and the car runs 100% better...Wasn't setting a code or light up the SES light just had not changed it and it was origianal (Car has 60K miles).

What would cause this poisoning ? Just normal usage or would that indicate another problem....

A whiteish ash coating can be normal if the combustion was clean. Bosch recommends changing the O² at 30,000 miles, so your's was probably due.
