how much does head work usually cost?

i want to get my heads modified to accept an lt4 hotcam. can anyone give an approximation on how much this would cost?

It should just involve replacing the springs, unless you have problems with the 1.6 rockers. I would just do it yourself, just borrow a valve spring compressor from you local parts shop.

what about having the guides cut down....... the hot cam has too much lift for stock heads.

if i can do it myself i will, i just didnt know if anything else needed to be done besides changing the springs.

Be sure to port and polish the heads while they are off. That will make a world of difference when you have the LT4 cam in there. Good for at least 30 hp if done right. Follow link at the end of my sig.
