What kinda setups (motor, trans., rearend) are good for long road races, like the silver state challenge?

something that handles sustained running with a large oil pan...and a good od tranny
well i've figured that much
i'm looking at either a 305, 350, or 383 and i'm most likely going to go with an 8speed auto tranny or manual 6, but have no clue on the rear sofar..

- No rear gears over 3.23, unless the longest straight stretch is less than half a mile;
- You'll want slightly wider ring gaps for the sustained higher RPM;
- Extra oil capacity;
- An auxilliary oil cooler;
- Baffles or trap doors in the sump;
- Baffles in the fuel tank;
- Extra cooling capacity for both the engine and transmission;
- Less valve lift and more valve diameter to achieve flows - nothing over 0.600" lifts;
- Lightweight valve train components;
- Lower stall speed TC (unlike a ¼-mile setup). High slippage causes more heat;
- Lightweight wheels and tires, with a high heat rejection rate;
- A front air dam and side air skirts to keep the air from under the vehicle - keep the rear open;
- Larger brake discs and ceramic brake pads;
did they make any 4th gen fuel tanks with baffles?
