What is this wire with a green for?

I have an 82 Trans Am LG4, thats all stock. I noticed on the passenger side of the engine compartment, near the firewall that their is this wire with a green connection, well. It came out of the big tube of wires that goes behind the firewall to the computer. It just sticks out of the plastic surrounding and connects to nothing. Anyone know what this is for?

It's a diagnostic connector. One thing you do with it is connect a dwell meter to it to adjust the idle air bleed. Otherwise, it doesn't connect to anything on the car itself.
