Or grab onto it with a big pair of channel-locks, or similar plier-type wrench, and reef on it. Doesnt matter if it gets destroyed in the process.
f'er still wont budge..i got half the shell off, attempted to use the biggest pair of channel locks i have to bust it off and it still wont come off....this t/a has been nothing but aggrevation...any other ideas before i give and lose it and call a junker..lol

chisel time..just be careful when you get throught the rim of the filter so as to not damage the mounting spot
well, the chisel/screwdriver method seems to be working, sorta...my arm is about to fall off or i am weak cuz theres not alot room to get leverage with the hammer so i am gonna be pounding for a while...just need to rest the arm. lol....but thanx for all the help guys, you help me not feel like such a dumbass

You're not trying to cut anything, all you need to do is get the chisel to hang on a projection from the metal or one of the holes in the plate or something, and then tap on the chisel to unscrew the bottom plate of the filter. Should come loose with a couple of whacks, then it will be loose enough to spin the rest of the way off by hand.

if the rim of the filter seized to the filter mount..he will be trying to cut something off...had it happen on a car...
Nope, no f'ing luck...this is major agrevation...i took the entire shell and guts off the filter, and with a chisel and screwdriver and ballpeen hammer spent all afternoon yesterday trying to loosen the filterbase ccw...this morning spent an hour with a hairdryer trying to heat the filter base so it would expand...nope....if i cant get this f*@ker off i cant drive it to the shop for other work i was gonna do and am about to take the sledge hammer to the car..
There should be a ring on the top of the filter where the top and the side are sealed up on assembly like RB said use a hammer and a chisel you don't want to cut the ring you just want to walk it off with the chisel your just using the chisel to grip the metal i don't think a hairdryer is hot enough to expand the metal just a thought if you have any electical contact cleaner you might be able to use it on the rubber ring it might free it up a little i would ithink it would be like using a torch to cut a lock washer to relieve pressure on a stuck bolt just a thought never tried it on oil filter the tightest one i had i got it off with a screw driver later just a piece of advice and this is something i also tell myself is to DO NOT work on anythng Angry you just end up f!@ckin it up worse or breaking something else take five walk away and everything will work out fine
Well...thanx for the help everybody...i actually got the filter off, when dad got home, he looked at it and went in the garage, jimmy rigged a spanner wrench with a couple pegboard hangers and took a hammer and got it off..so when i replaced it i made sure it was only hand tight now i just need to get a spanner wrench and one of those sears belt wrenches...well its off to the suspension shop for a front end job
