Engine Questions

Alright everyone, I have a few questions that some of you may help me with. My first question is about LT1's. Aren't they pretty much L98's with a better form of induction, reverse cooling, and optispark? Honestly, I don't really think you could tell much of a difference in the two if they shared the same form of induction. Also, why do some engines require self-aligning rocker arms, and some don't? I'm in the process of ordering heads and cam and want to make sure the valvetrain I have now will work. Also, what kind of power would a 355 with 10:1 compression running AFR 190's and an LT4 hotcam make? I want to be able to take down some lightly moded LS1's. My friend with an LS1 and cam runs right at 13flat, but with my combo I would hope for mid 12's with good traction. Anyways, any answers would be helpful.

If you look at it the way you are the 265's from the mid 50's are the same as the L98, just a different form of intake. But the Lt1's use different block and head cooling passages that will not directly bolt upto a 1st gen (55 to 92) engine the only parts that are the same are the crank and rods as comparred to a L98. All factory GM roller cam engines require self aligning rockers.
