I'm calling on EVERYONE to help me out...
Ok here's the deal. I'm requesting the help of everyone here, especially those who own a LG4 or similar, but basically most people can help out with some of my dilemma.
This monday I'm FINALLY starting to put my engine back together, but unfortunately all my paperwork documenting the pipework and wiring, bolt locations etc. have been destroyed in a small fire which was nothing to do with me, honest.
Don't get me wrong, I know what I'm doing with my engine. The thing is, I started to dismantle it about a year ago...and now I have no reference sheets (apart from the less-than-useless haynes illustrations) some of the aspects are bound to escape me.
What would really help me out here is pictures. Pictures of pipe routes, pictures of your engine dismantling progress, pictures of anything remotely connected to the rebuild of the top end of a V8. Diagrams too, and failing that, brief descriptions. I don't care how obvious they seem, the last thing I want is to assemble the engine, only to find there's a bolt missing from the back of the head which can only be inserted with the engine out.
My main concerns are water pipes, linkages and cables, ancilliary brackets and the like. However, pictures of absolutely everything would be much obliged. To get the thread started, is there a visible way of telling which is the left cylinder head and which is the right one? They've been sitting in my spare room for so long, I can't remember which is which!
Many, many heart-felt thanks in advance, and please don't be shy!

The heads are the same. The one in the driver's side will definitely have a temp gauge sending unit though, and the pass side may or may not have a fan switch, if it doesn't it will have a plug; so if one head has a plug and one has an open hole, put the plugged one onthe pass side.
Look around on the motor, and count the number of bolts that go in like locations. For instance, there's 34 head bolts; 16 long, 4 medium, 14 short. There's 12 intake blots, but they're not all the same; they are however all close to the same length. Same for exhaust manifold bolts: there's 12, some are studs and some are bolts, but it shouldn't be too hard to identify bolts that have been use around exhaust.
First, find all the head bolts, and put the heads back on. Then find the intake bolts, and put it back on. You'll have to take a couple of those back out to put on brackets and stuff unless you happen to remember where some of them are.
Then the fun begins. After you get to that point, alot of it will be coming back to you; the rest we can help with pics and diagrams and such.

Thanks for the replies, guys. The pics of the LG4 would be great, thanks icebird. Thanks also to 84 for the diagram. Does anyone have a photo of their engine bay, so I can see some of the hose and cable routing?
