I have no knowledge about cams. What are their function? What are all those #'s about? I have a 2800 stall, shorty headers in an '89 ,TPI(for now),350ci. No engine work has been done. For now I am maxing out on bolt-ons. What cam comes with this formula 350 I have?

I am asking these questions because I want to know more about cam shafts and the task to doityourself before I indulge in the mission of more power for the drag strip. I do plan on installing the miniram from TPIS someday later this year.
