I am really stuck on this build up, any and all please help.
I am building up a 350 for my Camaro, but keep coming up against a wall. Here is where I am at. I have $1800.00 left and I need to try to get this car running. Here is what I have:
350 2-bolt block one piece rear main seal (out of a 93 suburban)
TRW L2256f030 Forged pistons
Complete TPI system - AFPR, LT1 injectors
Walbro Fuel pump 255lph low pressure
Plan on using vortec heads
The Machine shop is telling me $825.00 for the following:
Includes: Thermal cleaning, shot peened, magnafluxed, Line honed, Bore and honed (.030), Lowering the deck to 0, Balance, short block assembled, crank polished.
This leaves me about a grand to put the rest of it together. Is this going to happen? Anyone know of a bottom end kit I could buy? I am tired of trying to bit and piece this out on ebay, waiting seven days and getting cut out by a sniper auction or whatever. I am ok with spending the above on the rest of the lower end, but would rather not
Any and all advice is needed and appreciated.

check competitionproducts.com or northernautoparts.com they both sell some really nice bottom end kits. you could probably save some dough if you thought about putting the bottom half together yourself. and I am not sure but I don't think have the block shot peened is necessary.
P.s. You will probably need a high pressure fuel pump if your running fuel injecton and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

I currently don't have any rods. Iam going from my 305 to the 350, and need to keep the 305 together until I can put the 350 in.
I was thinking about the scat cast cranks or the 350 vortec crank, any opinions?

Two reasons why I can't put it together myself.
1. is space, I live in an apartment an have no place to keep it.
2. is I am going ot have them balance out the entire assembly, so I would rather just have them build it. I am going to try to get somequotes for less expensive machine work, but quality for something like this to me is worth the extra cash. Also the low pressure fuel pump is recommended up to 60psi. I was told that the walbro high pressure pump should only be used in applications where I will be going over 60psi. From everything I have read I should be right about 50-51, maybe even lower. If you guys think I definetly need the higher pressure please tell me know, because I can still catch the guy before he ships it.

Yup, I was looking at the kit from scoggin dickey.
Vortec Kit
Though that is a bit pricey, but I am thinking it is the best route to go. Than have another $400.00 in port work done to the heads and intake and have a combination worth talking about, but I need to finish this bottom end first. What's next?

i found a complete long block 350 from kragen's for $800. and then i'm taking the TPI from my 305 and putting it on the 350. only diff is the computer and injectors, from what i've heard. but i just found out that my 305 in my iroc is supposed to be a HO, which would mean it already has the injectors that i'd need for the 350. i mean, it might be worth it for you to buy a whole block from somewhere like that, then too have the machining done and add your performance options. just something to run by you. and that motor is already assembled and guaranteed and balanced also. there's another advantage. napa or autozone might have some comparable prices. i know at kragen's the guy will give me 15% off anything i get WITH the engine (plugs, wires, hoses, etc) so that saves some money too. only takes a week to get the motor delivered. but the core charge will jack you unless you have a 350 to give them. i'm going to call around to some local machine shops tomorrow and see if i can get a better deal somewhere. even in THAT instance, kragen will beat that price by 15% and you get the other benefits too!! sounds like that would be very very cool. i don't know the costs for their short block, but it might be worth checking out.
one more thing: Jeg's and Summit have some pretty good prices right now for engine stuff that i've seen.

You can use the same computer but you need a different knock sensor and a different prom. The ECU is the same otherwise. Then just change your injectors. A friend of mine has SVO 24# injectors and is real happy with them.

Since the original post back in Early April I have decided to build a super ram 383, I am right now just some roller rockers, catback, and machine work before I am ready to roll. I need to build the suspension though cause Ill never keep it on the ground otherwise

Jstcrzyengh: so not a fan of the kragen? got any cheap alternatives then? i'm on a very low budget (no more than a grand, TOTAL!) and that's the best solution i've come up with. i also have a time restraint. i need it done within 1.5-2 weeks before i start at a new job. all i need is a 350 long block and i'll slap on my TPI system. i'm open to suggestions....
87WS6: sorry, i wasn't being specific enough.

If you are just looking for an everyday rebuild. You can find a 350 block local all day long look through recycler.com, I also know a guy selling a 4 bolt roller block. like $150.00, than spend $600.00 on a hypereutectic rebuild kit. Heck you can get a stroker kit for around $900.00. Still be at your $1,000.00 total, even with machine work and you can have a much better block all the way around. My bottom end cost me about $2,000.00 with machine work, but that is with splayed bottom end and all forged parts including the crank. So $1,000.00 is not a hard thing to do.
