Need a place to run a wire through firewall

Anybody know a good place in the firewall to run a wire for a fan switch? Or should I just drill one?

I drilled one over by the relay area. That way I didn't have wires running through the firewall at various areas.

Well, you can remove the pass. side kick panel and run wires up by the fender into the eng. compartment. I used a coat hanger to fish the wire through. You may use a little more wire but you don't have to drill holes into the firewall.

I drilled a new one below the steering column. If you put a grommet in the hole, and encase the wire in stock looking sheath, it looks like it should be there.

Any time you drill, you also need to remember to seal (i.e., prime and paint).

Since your GTA should have the fan relay on the right side of the vehicle, fishing a wire through the existing ECM harness and plasic conduit would make for a more permanent and professional job. If you do that, pull an extra wire or string through with the wires so you can have the option of pulling more wire in later if necesary.

If you don't want to do that, you can install the switch wiring completely inside the passenger compartment by wiring a SPST switch in series with the blue wire on the D-11 connector at the ECM.

I run all my wires through the passenger fender where the stock wiring harness once was .....no drilling just a coat hanger and some fishin'
