Guideplate install

I have a set of zz3 heads that had non-hardened guideplates. I just switched over to Comp 4808 hardened guideplates. I now have a steady tick coming from both sides of the motor that changes from idle-2000rpm then it doesn't get any worse after that, almost sounds like it goes away. All the valves has been hot lashed with the engine running so that could be ruled out. I am running speedpro roller lifters, hardened pushrods, 1.6 full roller rockers, all with 1600miles. I have one suspect rocker but the noise is definately coming from both sides. Is there a way to screw up a guideplate install? Thanks for any help.

PP,

4808s are the flat ones, right? I guess it doesn't really matter, since there's no way to install the offset ones upside-down, and teh flat ones wouldn't matter. The center distance between the stud holes is the same no matter which way you install them, so you can't really "screw up a guideplate install."

Dis the guideplate swap accompany a cam swap as well? Or other parts?

How much play was there in the stud holes? Were the replacement push rods the same length as the others?

I changed the #2 intake lifter and pushrod after my rocker loosened on me. Both the lifter and pushrods are exact replacements from what I had been running before my valvetrain noise started. There was a small amount of play around the studs, but not really enough to worry about keeping them positioned while I tightened the studs. I was reading this thread on cz28.com, http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...te+and+install, it says something about the pushrod slots on the 4808s not being spaced far enough apart, would this cause interference? I also noticed my rockers were overly angled like the thread mentioned also, but I thought nothing of it at the time.
