surging idle

i have a 92 camaro rs with the 305 tbi, my question is the car surges at idle, and the idle seems to be low. it idles at 600 or so, surges from 600 to 650. i thought it might be the o2 sencor but that didnt help, the question is will the spark plug wires cause this? thats the only thing that i havent changed on the ignision system. They seemed good, just wondering. I also got a oftermaret chip installed wich it seemed to start it after that. im thinking that the chip is finding the things that were not bad yet and amplifing them. any help would be appriciated. sean

Get some carburetor cleaner spray;

Check all vacuum hoses for leakage and damage - replace as necessary;

Check the operation of the EGR valve, specifically to make sure it is seating fully;

Clean the throttle body around the plates, and through the IAC air passages;

Remove and clean the IAC. Remove teh pintle and clean the stem and inside the IAC recess. Apply one drop of clean engine oil to the pintl stem, then reassemble. Retract the pintle fully and reinstall it;

Clean the PCV valve;

Reset the throttle minimum air position;

Don't sweat the TPS adjustment, since your '92 has a fixed TPS.
