A/C Problem

My a/c compressor clutch doesnt seem to be engaging:

that triangulare plate should spin when the ac is turned on right? mine doesnt move even w/ ac on. i checked both sets of wire connections to the compressor:

neither had any power on them with car running and ac turned on. whats the next step, check the system for pressure? someone told me that if its out of gas theres a low pressure shutoff switch that wont turn the compressor on.

You need to charge your system. Your compressor won't come on if there isn't any freon in it.

depends on what type of freon u need, r-12 will run u about $33 per can, each can is 12oz and i think u need 3, buy 3 and if u dont use it keep it. r-12 is hard to come by and getting harder, if it leaked out before that means it will again and u will need it again. Though on newer cars they run r-134a freon, some older cars have be updated, most have not, if yours has that will run u about $15 or less per 12oz can, and again u will need 3 cans

hope it helps
