the keys slides in and will turn to the assesories but will not turn the other way. can't start it and can't take it out of park. whats wrong?

 

Either the steering wheel is bound against the lock pin, or your lock cylinder is toast.

 

I had the lock cylinder die on me a month or so ago... pulled into work, and couldn't shut the car off! I wound up replacing the lock cylinder myself. <a href="https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/showthread.php?s=&threadid=162390" target=newwin>Click here for my message, with pictures.</a>

 

the lock cylinder is fine i just pulled it out. something further down the colum is jamed.

 

Start digging:

 

Fix it. it was the spring for the steering wheel lock, it broke and got jamed in the gears that connect to the ignition switch.
