Perculation Problem
Perculation Problem
Question for you guys I have a 1982 Camaro with a 350 carburated chevy. I have a Holley 4160, towards the end of last summer when I start and drive the car everything is fine. The problem is after I shut the car off it will not start up again untill the car is cooled down for a few hours. Its like the carb gets flooded. What are all of the causes of perculation besides heat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Justin

Hot fuel pump is cause #1.
Put an extra gasket or 2 between the block-off plate and the block, and between the pump and the plate.
I've even thought about making a block-off plate out of some kind of material besides metal, to get rid of that.

I am using an electric fuel pump not mechanical, so I dont think that the block off plate applies, the electric fuel pump is mounted in the rear of the car. I have had the car for 5 years and the problem just started the end of last summer. I have run out of ideas.

The last time I actually used a Holley on a running engine, I had TWO aluminum plate heat shilds between the intake and carb to help that very same problem. Legally, you cannot vent the bowl to atmosphere on any post-1972 street vehicle. Got a spare Rochester?
