what the hell was that?

ok, here goes.

i have a 91 z-28 conv. auto. a few months ago i had a scroggin 350 vortec tpi engine installed. yes it is fun.

a few weeks ago as i pulled away from the car next to me i heard and felt a BIG bump from under the car. after that every time you step on the gas hard (not breaking the wheels loose) it gives me the same BUMP and it feels like it is comming from the rear end.

i replaced the rubber bushings on the sway bar, put on some bmr lower control arms, put on an adjustable bmr track bar and a set of eibach springs. guess what, it still has the same problem.

after that i was outta ideas.

HELP!!

i forth vote for the tranny mount. my firend had a new one installed in his gta and they got the wrong one and it was for a v6 and he has a 350 well it snapped again and everytime he got on it ud feel and hear the loud bang. he got a used one from my brother becuz he replaced his one in his 91z28 with a 350 for a ES mount and after he installed the one from the 91 z28, that bang went away.

honestly i have not checked the tranny mount.

i have had to replace the mount before and this is NOTHING like what happened when is was broken. (i have replaced it twice)

i will check to make sure.

it seems to be more often if i am accelerating out of a right hand turn.

thanks a BUNCH for the input.

Make sure you replace it with a polyurethane tranny mount. The stock rubber one will break again for sure, especially if you have mods.

I'm going to say you're all wrong and say it's the torque arm mount.

I've got my Nomex and my helmet, just in case

fast86,

Naw. If you read back through some of his other posts, you might find that he's already changed the blinker fluid, and went with KaleCo synthetic just to be sure.

Trans mount, crossmember bolts, exhaust or cat interference, torque arm mount, or if it were Red Devil, I'd say another "pretzeled" driveshaft.

Keep that Nomex handy and dry...

Dont use synthetic, you will ruin all gaskets and seals and cause the blinker to blink slowly.

I say Tranny Mount, but the right hand turn stuff sounds a little fishy... (shhhh, rearend, ie. spider gears). Nah, I'm sticking with Tranny Mount.

I think I found your problem, A broken window roller upper. On the other hand it could be the tranny mount, mine did the same thing when I got it, I would spin the wheels and everytime they catch huge *** bump. Replaced tranny mount and it went away.

Later,
Steve
