Heads????

Does anyone know where I can get a good flowing set of heads for 600.00 or less? They need to be center bolt heads, if anyone can give me a link or some phone #'s I would be so greatful.

how good flowing, what application? vortecs come to mind as a good cheap head as well as some ported heads, like 416s.

Aluminum L98's with some work. I picked some up, putting an Lt4 hot cam kit on them. Total with some minor porting and valve job with shipping, and this includes the cam kit mind you (with the cam), came out to just a bit over $600.00.

Vortecs flow are great and trust me that was my first choice, however, if you are going TPI good luck getting an intake. Tried getting one from scoggin dickey, they have been telling me for the past two months that they will be in this month. Supposedly they have a shipment set for the 24th. If your going Carb, or TBI apparently those are in stock.

However for the $400.00 extra it would cost you (now your grand total for heads is $1,000 if you go vortec), I would rather get the weight savings of the AL heads, siamese my base, get some AS&M runners, and gasket match everything all for the extra $400.00 the vortec base would cost me. As far as performance goes I bet I would be real close with the D port AL heads to what the Vortecs would be giving me especially with that cam.

Plus if you ever plan on getting boosted, like I am, that extra bit of detonation that the aluminum heads can take should help you either run more boost, or run less boost with more safety for your bottom end. I am going forged, but not knowing what you are using figured it was safe to cover both ends.
