Intake manifold gaskets?

I seen mr. gasket makes two different ones, for a 350 chevy. One is thicker than the other, what is the purpose of using a thicker intake manifold gasket?

Imperfect mating surfaces? Problems getting proper sealing with a stock thickness gasket? Personally, the smaller I have to make the forward and aft silicone seals, the better I feel.
