What's up with my wires and plugs???

Here's the deal - a few months ago I did some maintenance and upgrades on my car and already the wires and plugs(?) have crapped out on me. I have a '91 5.7 TPI (L98) and put in an MSD distributor, 8.5 wires and Bosch plugs. 1800 miles later, the wires have crapped out (bad miss) and I'm hoping that's all it is. A couple of nights ago I removed all the wires and inspected them and all were good except for one that was burnt and cracked bad. I replaced it (temporarily) with one of my old 8mm wires and pulled all the plugs, too. They were all wet with carbon deposits on them and I'd like to know why... I have a replacement set of wires on the way, and replacing just that one did not completely fix my problem, so hopefully I'll have a better picture of this when I put them on. BUT - what causes the plugs to burn the way they do? When I used good ol' Delco plugs I never had that problem - they burned clean every time. Anybody want to elaborate on this? I'd like to know...

I'd imagine your bad wires never let the plugs fire as strong as they could...

Which wires did you get? MSD's 8.5mm? They repaired a set of mine for free when the boots burned onto the plugs. Also if you bought a universal set (meaning if you crimped your own ends), maybe your crimp job fell apart inside the boots.

Yea, I got the 8.5's. I had to swap out the one wire I roasted, but the others are still misfiring. I got 'em from Summit and they're replacing them, so hopefully they'll still find bad ones and refund my charges. Or else I'll have to eat them myself... Once I replace 'em I'll run 'em for awhile and then pull my plugs and check 'em out...
