Help, car won't start!!!!!!

I usually don't post on here as I can find what I'm lookin for in searches most of the time, but I do need some help.

For some reason my car will not start. I can turn the key to the on position, the fuel pump works and everything else but when I go to crank, absolutely nothing happens. I already checked the neutral start switch, and just got thru replacing the starter thinking it was the problem. Anyone else have an idea as to what it might be? My only other thought is that it's the ignition switch, which looks like it'll be a PITA to replace.

I need help ASAP as this is my daily driver, thanks!!!

Oh, I already checked the battery and fuses, they're good too!

poke around with a test light and see if you have power to the starter, fuseable link is my first guess

If you get no clicking sound when you try and start, fusible link would be my first guess.......as well.

Just a few questions:
  1. Does the car have VATS? (Is there a black resistor pellet in the key?)
  2. If so, what does the SECURITY light do when you try to crank?
  3. Does the temperature gauge needle move when you try to crank the engine?
  4. Do the indicator lights illuminate (test mode) when you try to crank?
  5. Have you tried to tilt the column to different positions to start it?
Let us know what you find, please.

ok, here's the latest:

Vader,

1. my car DOES have vats

2. The security light, as well as all the test lights do come on when I put the key in the start position

3. The gagues do move during starting attempts.

the best I can tell from using my haynes book (however accurate it may be), and looking at wiring diagrams. I took a test light to the ignition wires near the switch and it tests good, but further down the line it tests bad. Based on the diagrams in the book, the only thing I can tell is that I wound up testing on both sides of a start enable relay? and that might be shot.

Vader or anyone else your input would be greatly appreciated
