my engine

ok, i have the lo3 and im wanting to do some things to it to make my car faster. i might be getting a new engine, so i dont really want to do things to the lo3 (i might get either an lt1 or just a 350 tpi). i have a new exhaust and thats about it other than a new K&N. im thinking that draining the rear diff. and putting in some royal purple cant hurt it any. what are some mods that i can do to add some hp here and there?

ps, i cant do most of the ultimate tbi mods in my area, emissions are a baitch, i dont want to get a new chip until i get the new engine, and N2O is out of the question.

Ok first off if you have plans for a new engine, that is cool, no need to worry about it as you said.

Have a new exhaust ?? Catback? cat? what size?

Good combo is a set of headers into a 3" cat and caback

if you have that, then your on your way. After that if you don't want to take on the engine swap just yet, go with gears and posi, then suspension, put all the power you can to the ground.
Panhard/SFC/LCA/Poly everything else.

Because when you do put the new 350 in you will need all the help you can putting it to the pavement.

Give some more info on your setup for more indepth info.

ok, i have a new exhaust system from the manifolds back pretty much. 3" i believe ending in a flowmaster 80 series and dual tips. can i get headers and still be able to use them on a 350? i have done some suspension work. new poly bushings/links for the sway bars and a new tranny mount. i might get some SFC's and a poly torque arm bushing. need any more info?

If you still have the manifolds, that should be your very next mod.... get rid of those. The ones you have, above all others, are choking your motor. Them and the Y-pipe they connect to.

I hope your cat has a larger inlet than stock; if not you need to re-replace it.

Edelbrock TES is about the easiest thing to put on there that's emissions complint and a direct fit. Get a set for a 350 TPI, and make sure the outlet where it goes to the cat doesn't neck down.

After that, you need a cam, and some different heads. The ones to get are the 081 casting from 305 TPI motors and Monte Carlo L69s.
