Lets talk about LT1 camshafts

Hey guys I have a 89 formula TBI car with a 355, My engine builder installed a LITTLE BITTY cam its like 414 lift 210@50, but my boss has a cam from his LT1, will this cam work in my car? If so will my Z28 valve springs work for this cam? Will I have to get a custom chip burned for the cam or will stock one work? Does anyone know what the specs are on the cam, it come from a 96 z28? Sorry about all the questions and thanks for the help.

Just made my intake to fit a 454 TBI and found some 65psi cop car injectors, this will be installed tomarrow, Hope it works

An LT1 cam would be pretty lame IMHO for a 355.

Actually your cam has more duration (read higher RPM HP) than the LT1 cam.

Here's a chart that Vader posts here quite a lot. I must say though that the cam I have (LT1 cam) isn't on this list.

The only way to tell for sure what you have is to break out with the dial caliper and/or a dial indicator as well as a degree wheel.

BTW, I spec'd mine. It's out of a '96 also. It reads as follows...
LSA - 116
Int - .450"
Exh - .459"
Int dur @ .050" - 203*
Exh dur @ .050" - 208*

As you see it has more lift than yours, but not quite as much duration, which is atypical of a roller cam.

I would do a search in the TBI board for

LT1

or

LT1 Cam

or

LT1 Cam Install

You're sure to get some results.

yes it will work no problem. since you have a roller motor it will work. take the old one out and slap the new one in.
